The Sea-Dweller, which has become incredibly popular since its production ended in 2008 with the introduction of its successor, the Sea-Dweller Deepsea (Ref: 116660), boasts a water resistance of 1,220m, far surpassing the 300m water resistance of the ultra-popular Submariner, and reigned as the top-of-the-line diver's watch for a long time. The design was initially free of the cyclops lens (date magnifier) because the water pressure in deep-sea work would cause it to detach from the sapphire crystal glass, giving it a cleaner look than the Submariner. The helium escape valve, a must-have feature for professional diver's models, is often a screw-down type at the 10 o'clock position, but the Sea-Dweller's is an embedded type that requires no operation, resulting in a practical appearance with no unnecessary protrusions on the side of the case. As the number of available watches decreases and prices are expected to rise in the future, it would be wise to get one sooner rather than later.
