In 1904, Louis Cartier created the "Santos watch" in response to a request from his friend, the famous Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont, who wanted a watch that could tell the time while flying.
The Santos, an icon of Cartier watches, was revived in 2019 as the "Santos-Dumont."
This is the XL size, featuring a slim 46.6mm x 33.9mm case and a hand-wound 430MC movement.
The Roman numeral indices on the dial and the square railway minute track around its perimeter are characteristic of Cartier watches, and the yellow gold bezel is adorned with the screw motif unique to the Santos watch.
